big coverage of a huge small town hockey tournament

two weeks ago eagle river hosted the usa hockey pond hockey championships. 250 teams. 1700 people. 24 rinks on one lake! this is a big deal for our little town and was made even bigger by the presence of nbc sports! the following segment aired nationally before & after the blackhawks game on sunday as part of nbc's hockey day in america. since local coverage of events around here is often anything but professional {i'm sorry but it's true!}, this video and its olympic feel are something really special!

seriously...tell me that music didn't give you the chills. nbc sports can make anything feel magical! also they make me want the olympics to be on tv. right. now.

funny they didn't mention that the tournament was sponsored by labatt blue and that each team received a 24 pack of beer for each game played :)

missing him

sorry i've been mia this week. it's been a year and i'm not handling things as well as i expected. i have so much to say about papa and about what we were all going through this time last year, but i can't seem to get any of it out right now. so instead here's the video i created for papa's wake. it's a little on the long side. only watch it if you feel like hearing some great oldies and seeing adorable photos of my sweet papa {plus a few of little jacqui. i'm the first grandbaby to show up on the scene!}

papa from craftee mcgee on Vimeo.

i miss you papa and love you dearly.

more thinking ahead to spring this week...lots of green!

featuring the freshly cut grass dahlia earrings. thanks choosing beauty!

and the dahlia ring again! this is a gorgeous collection that makes me wish for the sun. thanks berniolie

time to get a little work done around here then i'm off to the 'big city' this afternoon. i've been putting off stocking up on supplies and i have a craft show just around the corner so it's a much needed trip! i'll also be stopping at target for half off chocolate! did you know we're reaching the end of discount chocolate season? there's a big lull between the day after easter and the day after halloween. time to stock up! :)

treasury tuesday

last week's post got skipped as i was trying to figure out how to get the actual treasuries to post in readers. i've been talking with the developer of the treasury widget at craftcult and he's working on it. so in the mean time, click on over & see these great collections!

it seems this week everyone is thinking spring! so many of the items featured are green {surprise, surprise!} and that makes me smile!

featuring the olive green headband {which you can order in all new colors!} thanks so much ashbrook valentine!

featuring the peacock clip/brooch. thanks dream belle designs!

featuring the vanilla bean dahlia ring! thanks so much León and Coco!

featuring my {favorite} birds nest earrings. thank you betsy!

featuring the ocean breeze rosette necklace. thanks Orchid Lane Designs!!

i could keep going. i was honored to be featured 10 times this week {!!} but instead i'll share my favorite treasury of the week. this one was created by the talented brandi from sweet harvey, llc. have you checked out her shop? fabulous letterpress stationery plus now screenprinted items! she's a wonderful seller & she makes beautiful treasuries!

welcome!

if you're visiting from mandipidy's 'my readers are crafty' event- welcome! i hope that my dress dying tutorial was helpful and inspired you to dye something you have laying around- even if it is polyester! the original post is here {and includes extra ridiculous pictures of me dying the dress at midnight!}.

you can also dye something that is already colored, just make sure you're going darker!

if you decide to dye a dress or a skirt or a shirt let me know! i'd love to see the finished product! i'm still considering a second attempt on the dress to see if i can get it to be the pretty dark green color i hoped for!
